What Could Pain Under Right Abdominal Area When Pressed Indicate?
my daughter is away at college and studying for finals, she says she has a pain on her right side (under her abdomen area) when she presses on it. Her last period was April 21st. I asked her if it is a sharp pain and she says no. she says it only hurts when she presses on it. I told her to take Ibuprophen to see if that helps. the campus health center is closed. I don t know what else to do.

Probable causes of right abdominal pain is acute appendicitis, pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) or tubo-ovarian abscess, endometriosis, ovarian cyst or torsion, ureterolithiasis and renal colic, diverticulitis, Crohn's disease, rectus sheath hematoma, cholecystitis, bacterial enteritis, mesenteric adenitis and ischemia, omental torsion, biliary colic, renal colic, urinary tract infection (UTI), gastroenteritis, enterocolitis, pancreatitis, or perforated duodenal ulcer.
Please don't get panicked by the long list. I just mentioned all the possibilities. Please ask your daughter to consult a physician or a general surgeon. She needs to undergo various tests like complete blood picture, kidney function tests, ultrasonography abdomen and pelvis and urine examination.
Only with thorough clinical examination and above tests we can arrive at a specific diagnosis and appropriate treatment is possible.
