Hello,

Your sore is unlikely to be caused by the Nuvaring. It is however suspicious of an STD (sexually transmitted disease) possibly genital herpes (HSV2). Herpes can stay dormant for a long time after initially exposure, meaning you can get the infection from someone without even knowing because you may not develop symptoms right away. Herpes usually heals by itself within 1-2 weeks but can reoccur.

I recommend you and your girlfriend both see a doctor and get tested for STD. It’s important to get treated if you have an STD. You. an see your primary care doctor or a dermatologist.

PS: It is also important to use the Nuvaring as prescribed (and not remove it before sexual intercourse) because pregnancy can happen.

Good luck and stay safe! Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
