Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Could Prolonged Dizziness With Numbness In Toes Indicate?
My 26 old son who is on a job in a country town about 6 hours away has just rung to say he s feeling very dizzy all the time and can t sleep because he feels dizzy. It has grown worse over the last few days. His 2 Big toes are feeling numb. He has been to the (small) hospital in the country town he s in and they ve checked his blood pressure etc which is normal. They said go back to his accomodation and see how he goes by Sunday!! It s Thursday!! He s supposed to drive back home tomorrow and he s worried:(
It would have been very helpful if you would have mentioned since when he is feeling dizzy and numbness in his toes. Does he have the habit of taking any abusive substances which may be toxic to his health? He needs to get some routine tests done like the blood sugar, thyroid profile and vitamin D3 and vitamin B12 levels checked. Also, an ultrasound Doppler of the carotids would be helpful along with an echo 2D. After that, I would like to get his check up done along with the reports. In the meantime for getting relief from the dizzy spells, he can take some medicines like cinnarizine after consulting your general physician.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
