What Could Prolonged Hard Lump On Shin Post Bruising The Shin Indicate?

Hi, I bruised my shin a few weeks ago, and it came up in a yellow-ish coloured bruise and a hard lump. My leg was quite sore to walk around on for a few days but I worked through it. Now, three weeks on, the bruise has long gone, and I am left with this hard lump on my shin. Just wondered what it was and why it hasn t gone down? Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

It could be either cystic swelling or hematoma due to minor trauma.

But the important thing is to diagnose exactly for which you will require clinical examination from some local doctor or surgeon who will decide the treatment whether to go with conservative or operative (simple excision which is a day care procedure) management.

Here, I would advice you to see above doctor if the lump or swelling is troublesome and if not you can wait and watch the lump to resolve itself within week.

Regards,
