Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Could Rashes And Swelling In Ankles Indicate?
I just woke up with a rash on the inside of my ankles about 4 inches in height. I am inRome doing a lot of walking in the heat. Also have fever from severe cough for which I was give herbal cough syrup Thor my dry cough. Rash is not painful or itchy, but my ankles are a bit swollen. Have a three hour flight tonight. Should I be worried?
Fever and rash could suggest any tick bite or insect bite. Any infections, endemic in the place of your visit should be ruled out. I would suggest you to visit a doctor to get your rash examined. I would suggest you to take antihistamines, mild steroids and keep them with you during your flight. Monitor your temperature before your flight and take paracetamol if necessary.
Fever persisting for more than 3 days should be thoroughly investigated with complete blood count, Widal, peripheral smear and possible viral infections.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
