Hi I am a type one diabetic female I am constantly getting bacterial infection it started about a year ago when I had two different sexual partners unprotected I treated it with medication and to this day a year later he comes back every menstrual cycle please help does this have anything to do with my diabetes or having two different sexual partners
As per you history, You are suffering from some bacterial infection at vagina like Trichomoniasis. In this situation I recommend you taking metronidazole 400 mg 3 times daily for 5 days. Make sure your sexual partners are properly tested and take the medication too. I suggest avoiding alcohol and maintain good hygiene. I also suggest antibiotics ointment apply locally and use condoms.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Arup Majumdar, General & Family Physician
