What Could Recurring Malaria Causing Nose Bleeds Indicate?
My good friend in Africa has a son who has had malaria a few times now. But after each occurrence he has heavy nose bleeds and worse each time. What causes this and is there anything she can do to make it less severe or stop it quicker? This frightens her terribly...
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Bleeding through nasal cavity is called 'epistaxis'. It occurs due to fragile blood vessels in the mucosa lining nasal cavity present in 'Little's area'. Repeated bleeding from nose is not a good sign and it needs to be treated. These fragile vessels need to be cauterized to stop the bleeding. It can be done by electro-cautery or chemical cautery. Kindly visit ENT surgeon in this regard and get evaluated for how he could be addressed to. Hope the information given is clear. All the best.
