What Could Recurring Swelling And Bruises On Knee And Ankle Indicate?

Hi My knee was very swollen with no trauma and no sign of a bite or break of the skin. The swelling went down after a couple of days but the bruising came out and went to my ankle. My ankle is now swollen and all the bottom of my leg is bruised. The only area which is not bruised is the calf area. There is still a little fluid around my knee which feels like jelly to touch. Any ideas would be great. Thanks Sean Bell

Dear- thanks for using our service,I read your question with care and will give you my medical opinion. The swelling can be related to arthrosis and synovitis which is an inflammation in the area of the joint from arthritis. However, this situation usually is painful, but can start just with the swelling of the joint then pain . It is unusual to have a bruise in an area that you have not had a trauma,so it is important to have a blood work to evaluate the platelet count and coagulation to make sure that there isn't problem . It is advisable to have a rheumatologic check up including uric acid too.
I hope that my advise has been helpful
