What Could Recurring Weak Spells And Fluctuating BP Indicate?

My 73 year old husband has been getting weak (not dizzy) spells where he cannot walk or stand confidently. They come on in a matter of a minute or two. They last anywhere from 1 hour to several hours. He just had one. His BP was 170/80 and 10 minutes later 130/80. Five minutes later it s more normal at 130/75. He is not diabetic, he is overweight. Sometimes it s soon after eating, and other times hours later (today.) Could salt in his diet cause such events?
