What Could Severe Abdominal Pain In A Chain Smoker Indicate?
Hello! My friend have an extremely severe abdominal pain and it seems to be chronic. The last time it lasted for ten consecutive days. He have no other symptoms other than the severe pain. He took a multitude of tests to no avail. He s 19 years old and he s been smoking for about a year now. He smokes over 20 cigarettes a day, and he consumes alcohol regularly (The legal is 18). He also have a condition that causes him high blood pressure. His body produces more blood than normal, and he have to donate regularly (every 3 months). I m really desperate and I don t know how I can help him. I will be extremely grateful if anyone can shed some light on the situation. Thank you.

* As per my clinical experience, the issues of abdomen pain with chain smoking may be of concern with high iron load as hemochromatosis or others.
* In my clinic, I do recommend basic evaluations after the clinical examination as
- doppler ultrasound of the mesenteric vessels and ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis with liver, pancreas, stomach, intestines
- x-ray of chest ( PA )
- complete hemogram , serum ferritin levels
- CT chest depending upon results of above
* Further shedding of light in clinical perspsectives can be figured out ahead for better guidance once the necessary reports are available for studies.
