What Could Sharp Pain In And Around Left Nipple With No Detected Cancer And Infection Indicate?

I am 62, gave had 5 children all breast fed. For the past month I have had very sharp pain in and around my left nipple. I just had a mammogram and sonogram. Doctor said no cancer or infection detected and no clear idea of what is causing it. Soft silky pj's even shower after hitting nipple is very painful. No injury I can think of would have caused this. Please can you suggest something.

Hello ma'am and welcome.

Keep your nipple/areala region clean and also well moisturized. What could be causing the increased sensitivity could be related to a hormonal imbalance due to your post-menopausal status. You could request your doctor to check on your hormone levels and accordingly help correct them.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
