What Could Sharp Pain In Back Radiating To Abdomen With Blood Discharge While Wiping Indicate?

I have had a dull but sharp pain in the lower right side of my back that travels a little ways into my abdomen when using the bathroom sometimes, mostly just when urinating. I have had this pain I would say at least for a year, if not more. Also, recently, I have noticed that after wiping, the paper is covered is bright red blood and this is starting to scare me. I plan to see a doctor, but was just wondering what some possible causes & explanations for these symptoms could be. Please let me know at your earliest convenience & thank you! Stacie

If I was your treating physician I would like to run few tests....mainly
urine D/R
urine culture
ultrasound KUB.

UTI & kidney stones usually present with symptoms like painful urination, blood in urine and pain radiating from back to front.
I would suggest you consult your local urologist for further management. Treatment plan depends on the size of the stone if present.

Meanwhile, keep your hydration level high...drink almost 2 litres of fluids per day.

Please contact ER in case of acute pain, inability to pass urine or amount of blood in urine increases.
