Hi, I m 58, and I ve been active my whole life. I probably did some long term damage to my knees, hips, and lower back over years of mogul skiing and various other sports, but being an avid bodyboarder in recent years has been much easier on the body. Last year, when I went to Nepal and was walking a lot suddenly, I developed a sharp pain in the groin when walking around the first few days, which gradually subsided over a few weeks. It never quite went away completely, and came back a bit when hiking or walking much the next few months. I cycle a lot as well, but that never seems to hurt that area. I just got back to where I am in the waves a lot, and got into some large waves for the first time in several months, and after a couple days of that, swimming with fins on in large waves, the next day I had sharp stabbing pains in my right groin area again. These are much sharper than the duller pain which had me hobbling around Nepal, but go away after some seconds, leaving more of a dull pain that isn t very bad. Any wrong movement can bring the sharp twinge of pain though, and it s in the same area, right where the right leg joins the hip, that has been hurting the last year. I fear it could be related to hip degradation, but since it came on when walking, and came back in a sharper way after some straining of the quadriceps with fins on in the waves, wonder if it might be a strain that hasn t fully healed. Any suggestions are much appreciated!
