What Could Slightly Growing, Hard, Movable Lump Behind The Ear Of A Child Indicate?

My 11 year old daughter has has a hard movable lump behind her right ear since she was a baby. At the time of discovering it, my GP suspected it to be a cyst and recommended monitoring it regularly for any changes. The lump has become slightly larger as she has grown (now about the circumference of a 5p coin) but does not cause any pain or symptoms.

Welcome at HCM
I have gone through your query and being your doctor I completely understand your health concerns...
Is there any other swelling else where over the body?? Is overlying skin us free and mobile?? Any history of weight loss???any family history??
Based upon the history you have provided I don't think it has got any thing to worry about..
It may be a cyst or lipoma or enlarged lymph node....if you are really concerned about it meet surgeon.
If its a cyst He may need x ray of it to see if it has got any connection with inside head or not.
Meanwhile continue with your routine chores and enjoy your life...
Regards
