What Could Smelly Odor From Nose Of A Toddler Indicate?
Hi, my 4 year old daughter recently started getting a funny smell coming from her nose. She is very prone to catching any cold that is around but she hasn t been poorly for a while now. The smell sort of smells like something rotten or infection. She had a GP appt later this week but the smell is horrible, is there anything I can do??

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your daughter's problem can be most likely upper respiratory tract bacterial infection. Problems like adenoid enlargement can cause sinusitis and persistent infections in kids of this age. A consultation with ENT specialist should be done to rule out and manage this. Antibiotic therapy will be required. Nasal decongestants and anti histamines will be helpful also. You can apply saline nasal drops on nose now to ease the drainage. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
