Hello,
Removal of Nexplanon presents with symptoms like soreness for a day or two, sore breasts, discomfort, abdominal cramps, nausea, etc. It will go away sooner the body adjusts with the
hormonal changes. At the insertion site you may experience bruising, pain, swelling or irritation. you may feel
numbness in your arm, cold packs may help curb swelling and pain.
However, in case you develop
redness, have pain, you are febrile and there is
drainage from the insertion site then you should immediately visit ER. You need to get antiseptic dressing done and antibiotics if there is infection. You can take spasmol (
spasmoproxyvon), one SOS for abdominal cramps and anti emetics, one SOS to stay comfortable. Stay well fed, well hydrated and take rest for a day or two.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
