What Could Sudden Imbalance While Walking Indicate?
my husband has had trouble walking for several months. It s like his right leg is made of led or something. He s fine when he s pushing something like a stroller or cart. He can t go up or down steps without losing his balance either. The problem is he will NOT go to the doctor out of fear. I m having to do everything for him. He s not even 50 years old yet.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Imbalance while going up and down the steps is suggestive of neurological problem. Body balance is maintained by inner ear and co-ordination of body movements is brought about by the cerebellum. Any abnormality in inner ear or the cerebellum can cause imbalance or difficulty in maintaining balance. You need to consult a neurologist and ENT specialist for clinical assessment and relevant investigations. The condition can only be managed after clinical assessment and relevant investigations.
