Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain the swelling and pain at the jaw joint is probably due to Temporomandibular Joint Disorder and it can occur due to a number of reasons like:
1.It can be due to teeth clenching and grinding habit..
2.It can be due to dislocation of articular disc between the two ends of joint..
3.Physical trauma to jaw ..
4.Stress leading to tensing of the
facial muscles as well as clenching of teeth..
5.
Osteoarthritis..
You can take
muscle relaxant and painkillers like Flexon MR or Nucoxia MR twice daily..
Apply hot packs over the swelling..
Take a soft diet..
Avoid over use of jaw like chewing chewinggum for long hours..
Do not eat very hard foods..
Avoid excessive mouth opening..
In case if still there is no improvement or there is exaggeration of symptoms get an
Orthopantomogram done under supervision of
dentist and get evaluated for getting ruled out for the exact cause of the pain and swelling and get treated accordingly..
Hope this information helps..
