What Could Swollen, Painful Collar Bone While Having Arthritis Indicate?
I am having really bad pain in my right collar bone, and it is swollen as well. This has been going on for over two weeks and now the pain is radiating up into my neck. I do have rheumatoid arthritis and I am taking methotrexate injections. I do not know whats going on. My collar bone hurts no matter what.

What Could Swollen, Painful Collar Bone While Having Arthritis Indicate?
Hi, Based on the history you have shared, migrating polyarthritis is a feature of RA but swelling of collar bone itself is not explained. However any steroid induced osteoporosis leading to brittle bone or easy fracture may cause such issues. You may need to have X-ray of the bone as well as acromioclavicular joint X-ray view to rule out any issues and orthopaedic surgeon review. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be helpful for symptomatic relief. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin
