What Could The MRI Report As Cyst On The Pineal Regional Suggest?

Hi ,my 11 year old daughter had headaches for over 6months,so we insisted on a mri being done,the results were a 12mm cyst in the pineal region and slightly prominent temporal horns and lateral ventricles ?please help..what does this mean?she has to go back for an mri with contrast next week. Thankyou for your time Kay

Hello.
Thank you for contacting HCM.

There appears to be a mass in the pineal region. As the pineal region is in the midline therefore due to the cyst there is a mass effect causing dilatation of temporal horns and ventricles which are basically fluid filled channels in brain.

MRI with contrast is the next modality which should be used to determine the nature of mass that is whether it is benign or malignant. I would recommend you consult a neurophysician after the resut of MRI with contrast for further treatment accordingly.
