What Could The Lump Next To The Spine Which Has No Pain, Discoloration Be?

I have a lump under my skin. It is on my right side lower back next to my spine. It is at waist level and feels like it is on the muscle. It is not painful and I can t seem to move it. It is not really noticeable to look at but you can feel it. No bruising and no discoloration. I want to say it has been there for awhile but I guess because I noticed it again I started to worry about it.

Hi! thanks for sharing your health concerns with HCM!

Well, your condition is very common with many of our regular patients and as per my experience of needle biopsies of different lumps, I would suggest following possibilities for the subcutaneous, mobile, painless and colorless lump next to your spine:

1. neurofibroma or lipoma like benign skin tumors

2. benign cysts like inclusion cyst or sebacepus cyst

3. muscular or stromal nodule

Therefore, this one is not a thing of worries but the diagnosis should be confirmed by a simple needle biopsy; please get it to a doctor.

regards,
