What Could The Small Bruises On Waist And Back?

I have two small, round bruises above and below the waist on my back. I felt them itching at first, but upon trying scratch, realized that they were sore. Later, these started aching. They continued to ache in the bed, and now my right side and leg where they lie are aching. The only thing that I have done out of the ordinary lately is use some retinol cream on my face that my daughter (pharmacy student) brought back from a medical trip to Cambodia.

Hello,
Thanks for the query,
You might have developed fungal infection.
Your description matches with that.
Usually fungal infections are itchy and recurrent.
Please get a KOH mount done,
This can confirm the fungal etiology.
Treatment can be with oral antifungals as well as with topical antifungals.
Treatment must be continued for at least a month to prevent recurrance.
Please meet a dermatologist for exact diagnosis.
