What Could Thick, Long Rubbery String Discharge From Nose Indicate?
I have had a couple experiences where I could pull a thick rubbery string out of my nose up to a foot long before it will start to hurt my sinuses or breaks off. No blood or mucus just this long rubber band like thick strand or string. I am finding nothing on the web. Please help
Excess mucus may be produced by your body inorder to lubricate your nasal passages. Unless there is no foul smelling discharge or excessive crusting and bleeding, you need not worry. Kindly rule out any fungal infections or sinusitis or long standing respiratory tract infections which can also cause such symptoms.
Saline nasal drops can be taken three drops three to four times a day in order to clear your nasal passages. Antibiotic course may be required in case of suspected infections. Nasal endoscopy and X-ray Paranasal sinuses and CT chest can be done to rule out nasal block and sinusitis.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
