Hi,
The possibilities are one of the following for white areas over tonsillar area with painful swallowing:
-
Aphthous ulcers appear like this can cause painful swallowing
- Actual bacterial infection
- Pseudo-membranous pharyngitis
Hence, the best way is as follows:
- Consult an ENT surgeon as he can tell clinically the cause and get you started on an appropriate treatment before the reports are available
- You may be started on a proper antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, symptomatic and supportive treatment
- Throat swab from the white area
- Tests of blood
- Further changes in management as needed
- Do
Povidone iodine gargle
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
