What Dies The Following Ultrasound Report Suggest?
there is thyroid swelling on the left lobe 4.7x2.5x5.4cm and right side 1.1x1x2 ( partial thyroidectomy done in 1980.the left lobe enlarged with heterogenous echotexture and multiple large nodules. no internal vascularity noted. peripheral vascularity along the septa is seen. the diffusely nodular and heterogenous left lobe isseen to displace the vessels laterally. few lesions show internal cystic components. level II cervical lymph nodes with preserved fatty hila are seen on the left.( USG on16.5.17. this consultation is for my wife aged 63 yrs. FNAC on 16.5.17 the smears show occasional clusters of benign follicular cells and thin colloid . no evidence of thyroiditis. no evidence ofmicrofollicles/ papillae or any features of neoplasm. diagnosis: thyroid nodule, FNAC: BENIGN THYROID LESION, SUGGESTIVE NODULAR GOITRE. TSH level 0.56 ( 0.465- 4.68 IU/ml)-16.5.17 is thyroidectomy necessary now?
