hello. Welcome to HCM.
Your query regarding tests:
1. ASO titre indicates Anti
streptolysin O which is used to detect present or recent infection with
Streptococcus bacteria. Clinically, the test is important because this infection can be associated with
Rheumatic Fever and be complicated by
Valvular heart disease in future life. Its interpretation varies from lab to lab, if qualitative test, agglutination is observed.
2. CRP: is a non-specific but commonly ordered test, a high level of which indicates inflammation- mostly severe bacterial but also immune disorders.A significant level is generally above 1.0 mg/dl
3. Widal Test: Is the test done for testing
typhoid. Widal tests titres of antibody against O, and H antigens mainly. There is a qualitative, semiquantitative and quantitative Widal Test. a titre above 1 in 160 is considered significant.
4. Brucella: Exact diagnosis depends on demonstation of organism, which is slow to grow and carries risk of infection to personnel. There are few tests like MiLK RING test/ Rose Bengal Test etc.Or an appropriate clinical picture along with granulomas in liver.
Hope this helps.
