What Do Hemoglobin (HbA2) Levels In The Below Chromatographic Reports Suggest?
Sir, In a test for my wife (26yrs) - Hb variants estimation by HPLC, it is written that HbA2 level is 4.8%. Chromatographic profile consistent with Beta Thalassemia trait/ Beta thalassemia carrier status. We have doctor appointment next week. Please let me know what does the reports says ??? Thank you in advance.
Beta thalassemia carriers generally lead an asymptomatic life and might have slightly low hb than normal. However this carrier state is important before conception since if both husband wife are carriers then child might be affected
