What Do Abnormal Cells In The Uterine Lining Indicate?
I had a Pap smear, rectal exam everything looked good, no masses or lumps. But my cells looked abnormal in the lining of my uterus. I am getting a biopsy. Could this be fibroids, or uterine sarcoma? I have read that uterine sarcoma is a rare cancer. I haven t had symptoms except on my left side kind of by my hip bone has had a little ache. I massage it and it goes away. No strange discharge. Maybe a little white tiny discharge. I am 61. Is it unusual at my age to have unusual cells, am I at a bigger risk? What is the chances of having uterine sarcoma?
hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concern. Don't panic at all, there is nothing to worry about it. Cancer is usually not the reason why your Pap test is abnormal. The most common reason for an abnormal Pap test is a vaginal or cervical infection that causes changes in the cells of your cervix. Most of these changes can be followed closely until they return to normal. About uterine sarcoma, it's a very rare cancer having incidence about 1% only. As this cancer is inside the uterus, it is not usually detected on pap smear. It is not unusual to have abnormal pap smear at this age, don't worry.
