Hello,
Thank you for your question. Contraceptive evra patch and Diane pills. Both methods use hormones to prevent pregnancy, but the way they deliver the hormone is different. You apply the patch to your skin once a week and forget about it. You have to remember to take birth control pills every day. Whether you choose the pill or the patch, you'll be equally protected against pregnancy. Before you decide, consider which method will be most convenient for you. Also, think about the side effects each form of birth control can have. Birth control pills prevent pregnancy by stopping your ovaries from releasing an egg each month. the hormones thicken the cervical mucus, which makes it harder for sperm to swim to the egg.
Contraceptive Patch the same hormones as the pill. After patch is in place, it deliver a steady dose of hormones into your bloodstream.
Both birth control methods are safe, but they do carry a small risk of side effects. Such a bleeding in between periods, changes in the
uterine bleeding pattern during or between menstrual periods (such as decreased bleeding,
breakthrough bleeding or
spotting between periods, prolonged bleeding, complete stopping of menstrual bleeding that occurs over several months in a row, or stopping of menstrual bleeding that only occurs sometimes), headache, tender breasts, nausea, vomiting, mood changes, weight gain...
Serious side effects you should go to see your doctor soon is decrease blood flow to the extremities, signs of
depression, uncontrollable movement of the arms or legs, hearing change,
severe headache, vision change,
shortness of breath, swelling of the face, hands, feed or airways, sign of blood clot(e.g, coughing up blood, pain in chest, groin, or leg- especially in calf of the leg.).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Best regards,
Dr. Heang Chan Raksmey, General and Family Physicain.
