What Do Body Pain And Rashes On Arms After Taking Amoxicillin Suggest?
Sunday I had very red eye with puss. Got a shot of rocephin and dexamethas and was prescribed amoxicillin 875mg/125. The eye pressure subsided and I felt better. At 2 o clock this morning I woke up with intense pain all over my body. Could not sleep. I had a massage today and was told I had raised whelps where I got the dexamethas shot. Raised looking bites on my right arm. Feel really wiped out. Not depressed and actually not in as much pain. Can sinus poison your whole body or is this a reaction or perhaps a bite? I am on armoutrthyroid.
The marks on your skin could be due to allergic reaction at the site of injection which is not unusual. Its not a sign of poisoning or due to thyroid medication which you are taking. You can take antihistaminic ointments available over the counter and apply locally or even take oral antihistamines like Avil or Cetirizine.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
