Hi im 30years old, I m in a healthy stable relationship and on the pill, recently i have been experiencing mild to severe dull to shooting pain in my pelvic area, groin, thighs and calves. I experience period like pains in my stomach when my period was only just three weeks ago. 2Weeks later after my period had finished I had a brown discharge, then pink/red spotting, which lasted about 3 days.. Hello,

You are suffering from brown discharge and pink spotting between periods while on pills. Having brown discharge with abdominal pains can be an indicator of vaginal infections like bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, or chlamydia. Other medical conditions that may cause similar symptoms are dysfunctional uterine bleeding, cervical polyp, PID, ectopic pregnancy, HPV, UTI, etc.

Get clinically examined, get urinalysis (R/E and C/S), STD & other required blood tests done. Treatment will depend on what’s causing them. Your treating doctor will prescribe antibiotics for infections such as PID, UTI or STIs. You may be prescribed topical or oral antifungal medications for yeast infection.

HPV or cervical cancer if diagnosed will be treated depending on the severity of the condition. If required you may be recommend surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy. Stay away from addictions if any, avoid doing any heavy work. Stay at rest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
