What Do Bumps And Swelling Around The Area Of Mosquito Bite Suggest?
Hi, i got a mosquito bite on my hand now it was swollen first where the bite was and i had a tingling sensation on the hand, now that the swollen has resided i see a lot of bumps around the hand that had the mosquito bite. Why is that? and they arent itchy at all. They are very small bumps
Bumps caused due to mosquito bites are usually small and clears on its own. Rarely, redness and swelling can occur surrounding the bite. Severe reaction is common in children, adults not previously exposed to the type of mosquito that bit them and those with reduced immunity.
You may require a course of antihistamines or steroids to reduce the inflammation and redness. In case of scratching or infection of the site, antibiotics can be used for 3 to 5 days.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
