What Do Burning Sensation In The Abdomen And Black Bowel Movements Indicate?

Hello, I am a 20 years male and I have been experiencing a bit of burning sensation in my liver region from past six months or so. The burning has decreased a bit from a month but I decided to see a gastroenterologist to get it checked out. He gave me three medicines (Rifaximin, zincovit, Razo-D) and recommended some blood tests. After two days on the medicine, I passed completely black stools this night!? Please provide some information about this. I m really worried!!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I advise you to take USG abdomen and Liver function test. Sometimes, Rifaximin also causes side effects like this and might also cause constipation.

I suggest you to take plenty of water. If symptoms persist then do consult a physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Indhu Priyadharshini
