What Do Clusters Of Small White Dots And Red Spot On Lips Suggest?
About a month ago I discovered clusters of small white dots on my lips near the corners of my mouth. The dots sting at times especially when i eat certain foods like oranges or drink beer. Also, i have had a red spot half on my lip half off my lip that went away the same day it showed up. I have since been tested for HSV and the results were negative. My doctor prescribed silver sulfadiazine that i have used for a week and a half now and i have not seen any improvement. What could i possibly have and is it contagious?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your complain clusters of white dots on the corners of the lips that stings at times seems to be most probably due to viral infection causing Herpetic cold sores but in case if HSV test has come out to be negative you need to get evaluated for bacterial or fungal infection while you also need to get the viral culture test along with antigen antibody reaction repeated for re-confirmation.. As of now you can keep the area moist by applying petroleum jelly over it.. Do cool compresses to reduce inflammation and stinging.. Avoid spicy and citrus foods and drinks.. Keep the area clean..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
