What Do Cramps And Burning Sensation In Vagina Post Hysterectomy Indicate?

In October 2007 I had a hysterectomy. I had a tumor. I have been having cramping like its time of the month for about 8 months now. I have just been tolerating it, but the last 3 weeks my lower back now bothers me and I have a burning sensation inside my vaginal area. Is this a normal thing to happen

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If you had a total hysterectomy, meaning you had your ovaries removed as well, you may develop menopause and related symptoms. Due to low estrogen, the vaginal walls may atrophy so it may be advisable to use some vaginal lubricants. Estrogen ointment may be used intravaginally as well but you need to talk with your doctor if they can be used in your case.

I hope this is helpful.
I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
