Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I get intermittent tight cramps in the right epigastric area. It is like a tightening of the muscles. It is unrelated to eating or exercise. It tightens for a few minutes, and then goes away. It comes sometimes several times a day, or then not for a week or two. It is always in the same area. Sometimes it is tight enough to take my breath away.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The tight cramps you feel in the right epigastric area at the point of taking your breath away are suggestive of possible muscular skeletal problems. Magnesium and calcium supplements can help relieve the tightening. However, what worries me are the internal organs like gallbladder, and colitis attack. Get an abdominal ultrasound done and a good physical examination by your caring doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
