Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I have been experiencing some cysts under my skin around my genital area for the last 5-6 years. They come and go. They are less 0.5-2 cm in diameter and feel like a small ball under the skin. They were painless to start with (5-6 years ago), but are mildly painful when touched for the last 1-2 years. Now, I am experiencing the same in my underarms. Is this dangerous?
I read your query and I understand your concern. It seems you are suffering from warts of moluscum contagious. MC is caused by a poxvirus called themolluscum contagiosum virus (MCV). The virus is spread either by direct contact including sexual activity or via contaminated objects such as towels. The condition can also be spread to other areas of the body by the person themselves. For mild cases, over-the-counter wart medicines, such as salicylic acid, may shorten infection duration. Daily topical application of Tretinoin cream may also trigger resolution. These treatments require several months for the infection to clear and are often associated with intense inflammation and possibly discomfort.
Hope this clarifies your concerns. Thank you for the query. If helpful, vote yes.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
