Hello, I m a 29 year old female. I ve had a cough, fever, stiff neck and headache for 4 days. Due to meningitis symptoms (unable to touch chin to chest) the urgent care doctor asked me to go to the emergency room. All my CBC results were normal, CRP was 7.8 and spinal tap was negative for meningitis. Thoughts on what would cause elevated CRP with everything else normal? Can this happen with just a virus, since I have been ill? Thank you!

welcome to hcm ...elevated crp means presence if infection ..as you have cough and fever that are causes of fever ..as spinal tap is negative it is not meningitis ..other way to make a diagnosis is CT scan brain .
