Hi, I have just received my DHEAS results. It s value is 192.1 micrograms/dl. It states that elevated levels of DHEA are found in the plasma of patient with adrenal tumor or congenital adrenal hyperplasia or polycystic ovaries. I did have PCOS until about two years back. My latest sonography report also suggests no PCOS. What do I inference from these results?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
DHEA is a hormone produced by your adrenal glands. Adrenal disease is the main cause of high DHEA levels. Adrenal hyperplasia, a swelling of the gland, can cause high levels of DHEA. I suggest you to consult your endocrinologist for further evaluation and treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
