Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My liver enzyme count (AST-GOT & ALT-GPT) have been elevated for months. In May, AST-GOT 50/ALT-GPT 138. In June, AST-GOT 44/ALT-GPT 99. In August, AST-GOT 74/ALT-GPT 203. I have been screened negative for Hepatitis and have been scanned for tumor which was also negative. I am a non-drinker. The doctors I visited cannot understand why the numbers have not declined over a period almost 6 months and I have wasted a lot of time taking tests with no conclusive results. What other possible diagnosis could I have or ask for?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Sushant's Response
Hello, In my opinion elevated liver enzymes may be due to muscle injury or congestive heart failure,if your hepatitis workup is negative. Further investigations are advisable for diagnosis. Can consider checking cpk levels and a echocardiogram for heart functions.
