What Do Elevated Troponin Levels Indicate?

Hello! Went to ER a few days ago with very dull chest pain, no other symptoms. They did the whole monitors on chest, blood test and X-ray, everything came back normal. Said my heart is normal I’m size, bones are good and aside from a few deficiency’s, blood came back normal too. My Troponin levels came back at 0.010, what can that mean? Also says there is a definite rule out of an AMI. also, would any of these tests tell me if I have Angina?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Troponin T values greater than or equal to 0.01 ng/mL are a prognostic sign in patients with ischemic heart disease and most other situations.

Clinical judgment is necessary to distinguish patients who have ischemic heart disease from those who do not.

However, all patients with troponin T values of 0.01 ng/mL and higher are at increased risk for cardiac events relative to patients with undetectable troponin T.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
