What Do Excessive Sleep, Weakness And Headaches In A Teenager Indicate?

My 14 year old daughter experienced a series of migraines over a month ago. Since then she has no energy, sleeps a lot, complains about weakness and trembling in her legs. They performed blood and urine tests and said she had hypothyroidism due to a TSH of 4.89. She was put on Synthroid but is not improving in her symptoms. We are extremely worried as her heart rate now sometimes exceeds 110. She was very athletic and a great student until now. She seldom leaves her bed and we are at a loss as how to help her.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello,

By your history and description, the possibility of depression and migraine is more in your daughter's case. So better to take her to a psychiatrist and get done counseling sessions.

Try to identify stressor in her life and start working on its solution. She will need an antidepressant and anti-migraine drugs. Don't worry, she will be alright with all these.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
