What Do Frequent Urination And Appetite Loss Indicate?

Hello, Dr Rynne, My girlfriend is experiencing several symptoms, many that interfere with her quality of life. I will list them below: -Increase in the frequency and urgency of urination -Change in faecal composition- similar to diarrhoea -Feeling of fullness and no appetite -Feelings of nausea after eating (eating only small amounts of vegetables and other foods) -Difficulty sleeping (not unusual) -Reoccurring and consistent pelvic pain, including feelings of pressure -Irregular periods (missing two or more cycles, sometimes even 4 months without any period) -Increase in bloating of stomach (no significant visual change) -Back pain, particularly lower -Lethargy, feeling tired frequently. She has seen doctors before, and a cyst on one of her ovaries has been detected. She has also had a trans-vaginal ultrasound and typical colonoscopy within the last year, but some of these symptoms have developed since. Her thyroids have been checked, and she has been checked for diabetes with no issues there. I am wondering about the likeliness of this being some form of ovarian cancer. Her symptoms present very similarly to the symptoms of ovarian cancer, but her age (19, almost 20) definitely reduces the likelihood of this risk. I ve recommended she has an additional ultrasound and has that cyst checked again because the pain and pressure seem to be concentrated in her pelvic region, close to her ovaries and uterus. Until then, are there any other possible diagnoses for these symptoms? I d like to clarify that these symptoms have been increasing in severity and have occurred every one or two days for more than two weeks. I would sincerely appreciate any advice or concerns you might have to offer! This has been a source of constant worry for the both of us, particularly with her family history of bowel cancer. Kind Regards, Extremely concerned.

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can
A urinary tract infection is a common cause of frequent urination and this is the first thing to think of. An overactive bladder is another common cause but usually seen on elderly, although it may be seen in youngs as well.
Overactive bladder is usually a collection of symptoms that can lead to frequent urination. These include: urinary urgency, or the sudden urge to urinate, caused by muscle contraction, urge incontinence, or loss of bladder control. Excessive caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol may also irritate the bladder walls and can worsen frequent urination symptoms. Treatment for frequent urination depends on the cause. Your doctor will first treat the primary disease responsible for frequent urination, such as diabetes. If an infection is at fault, your doctor will prescribe antibiotics for getting rid of the infection.
Medications that control the muscle spasms in the bladder can help reduce urinary incontinence, or loss of bladder control. Your doctor also may suggest doing pelvic exercises, such as Kegels or bladder retraining exercises, to help delay urination.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
