What Do Hiccups And Pain In The Upper Back Indicate?
Over the last couple of weeks I have had upper back squeezing pain, hiccups in the night which were very strong. I have had weakness in my right arm and a lot of stomach issue so . I now have a Cough and cold and fatigue which I have had for two weeks. Is all these related to a possible sports injury except for the stomach issues or something else?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The problems with hiccups, upper back squeezing pain are indicative for possible stomach hyper acidity problems. Immediate consultation with gastrohepatologist is highly recommended together with upper endoscopy.
Abdominal ultrasound and a few lab tests are advised to rule out gallbladder and pancreas problems:
- complete blood count
- liver/pancreas/kidney function test
- urine analysis
For the moment, I can only advise to avoid oily/spicy/chilly foods and carbonated drinks. Take antacids after eating.
Wish fast recovery. Let me know if you have further queries.
