What Do High Fever And Chills Indicate?

my father aged 78 years, had trochanteric fracture and undergone surgical placing of plates, four month ago. as per his ortho fracture show good healing (x-ray 15 days ago). for last 6-7 days was having fever (up to 100F) and was given paracetamol as and when required. for last three days is having high fever (up to 104F) preceded by sever internal chill rigors (usually at 10-11 AM morning and 11-12 PM night), with extre debility, blood CBC normal except TLC 10800, Polymorphs 72%, SGPT/SGOT normal, S.Creatinine 1.4. please advise on probable type of fever and diagnosis . thanks akjjain

The high fever with rigors for a long time can indicate bacterial infection, maybe he need further examination like urinalysis or chest X-ray of thorax.
