Hallow Dear,

Menstrual cycle of 21-23 days is regular and normal if that is your pattern of menstruation since your menarche.

Age of 36 years would be rather too early to be considered as perimenopausal age since in the 21st century, the menopausal age has shifted even beyond 46 years.

However, at this age, routine post-coital bleeding should be considered seriously. This is a classic symptom of cancer of the mouth of the uterus (cervix). Such bleeding is recurrent and painless. If not cancer, it may be some friable lesion like huge erosion of the cervix.

I would advise you to undergo a vaginal examination. If it shows any growth, ulceration or nodular lesion on the cervix, submit it's biopsy for histopathology examination. Even if there is no visible lesion, please submit your vaginal cells for Pap smear examination.

If there is any overt cancer or in situ cancer, depending up on its stage, you may require surgical treatment.

If it is not a cancer and only benign ulcerative lesion is noted, it can be treated by cauterization and/or antibiotics.

Please report to your Gynaecologist ASAP.
