General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It doesn't necessarily have to be covered. It would depend on the severity of the infection. Itching could be an effect of the bacitracin. Wipe the area clean before reapplying. If the itching is severe, consult your doctor to check for an allergic reaction

You could be reacting to the tattoo. If so, you will need to have it removed. Please continue treatment as prescribed. If you have a fever or arm pain, feel breathless, see your doctor right away.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
