What Do Itchy Rashes On The Chest And Neck Indicate?

I started Zoloft 5 mg three weeks ago. I had also been taking zertec but stopped that because it is listed as a drug I should not take with Zoloft. I started itching several days ago while on vacation. I am now home and have hives on my chest and neck.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of itchy rashes on the chest and neck and you started Zoloft 5 mg three weeks ago . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like viral Infection, chicken pox , shingles , impetigo , psoriasis or side effects of certain medicine. It could be due to allergic reaction and improper hygiene. But in your ase the symptoms are probably due to side effect of medicine you are taking, so consult the concerned doctor he/she may alter the dose or prescribe substitute. I would suggest you to apply cold compresses to rashes to reduce redness and inflammation , take over the counter antihistamine like benadryl and avoid food like nuts and seafood. You should avoid touching or pricking rashes. If condition doesn't get well then consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants along with corticosteroid ointment , antibacterial or anti viral depending upon the diagnosis .
