What Do Itchy Red Marks On The Left Shoulder Blade Indicate?
Hi there are red marks on my left shoulder blade that itches a lot. They re little round dots that are growing in size with a darker center. I m not sure if they are some sort of bug bites. I spent late night outdoors a few days ago which I think is when it started.
Bugs may cause lesions that are red and itchy but they would be expected mostly on exposed areas such as arms, legs, neck, etc. This does not mean they are not bug bites but other causes may be considered as well. Fungal infection or local irritation may also be the cause.
I would recommend you to use a combination of an antifungal cream (miconazole or clotrimazole) and a steroid cream (betamethasone) twice a day for 1-2 weeks on the area where the bumps are. You may apply first a thin layer of the steroid cream and then over it you may apply the antifungal cream.
If you notice no improvement in 3-4 days or if you notice any worsening you will need to have it checked with your doctor.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
