Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a small group of red spots just above the gum line of my tooth they ve been there for a few days but don t seem to be leaving s I d my gums are healing there s no bleeding, discomfort, or soreness I m pretty sure I don t have gingivitis I take care of my teeth pretty well. What can be done?
I can understand your concern. If you are seeing these spots after complete drying of the gums, then what you are observing is called stippling, which is a feature of healthy gingiva and there is nothing to worry about it. In fact, loss of this stippling indicates presence of gum disease.
However, if the spots are looking like ulcers and they are not healing, then it is necessary to get them clinically evaluated by the dentist regarding its size, location, texture, consistency etc. You might need to go for biopsy, too. Based on the test results, diagnosis can be made and treatment can be decided.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
